Carnival · January, February

Music, dancing and parties are synonymous with the Dominican Carnival! This is the brightest celebration of Dominican culture and their national identity element; it is a real explosion of joy, filled with colors, traditions, events and competitions. Colorful processions take place in every province of the country each Sunday until the first weekend of March – after Ash Wednesday.

Holly Week · April

During these days, religious processions are held in almost all cities, towns and villages. Gastronomy is also an important element in this celebration. During Holy Week you can try popular Dominican desserts such as: sweet bean cream; «chaka» – corn pudding with rice, milk, cinnamon and cloves; or sweet potato pudding made with cow’s milk and coconut.
